The highly awaited annual report breaks down trends spanning the entire web: e-commerce, usage, social media, and much more. Meeker presented nearly 200 slides in just a few minutes, so post-conference analyses of the report are necessary and abundant. As Forbes published, overarching themes from Meeker’s talk include Messaging as a platform for more than strictly communicative functions, the increasing popularity of drones, the importance of diversity, and “tech as tool for social change.” Additionally, Meeker’s analysis of where to look for the future of web and tech innovation is worth noting:
“Forget China; India is now leading in smartphone/Internet growth. India has 232 million Internet users, up 37% in the last year. It added 63 million users in 2014. Its growth curve mirrors that of the United States a few years ago, and China more recently.”
