On Wednesday, November 5, 2014, hundreds of direct marketers gathered at the Boston Common Hotel & Conference Center for the 2014 Marketing Technology Summit, hosted by the New England Direct Marketing Association (NEDMA). In only its fifth year, the conference attracted attendees from all over New England, representing fields ranging from technology to health care, consumer goods, banking and more. With the theme of “The Innovation That Drives ROI,” the conference was comprised of eleven sessions that focused largely on marketing strategy, technology, and innovations. The impressive speaker lineup of the day-long event was as diverse as were the sessions, representing companies including Oracle, HubSpot, Overdrive, Marketo, Millennial Media, Evergage, Ion Interactive, Quaero, Virtual DBS, Act-On Software, and AcquireB2B.
The day began with a keynote session by Oracle’s Director of North American Marketing, Natasha Morgan. She discussed the importance of the marketing/sales relationship and how “[it] is more important than ever to creating an ideal customer experience and business success” in this current marketing climate in which the consumer has more power than ever before. Several subsequent presentations also touched on improving the buying’s experiencing and optimizing marketing strategy to touch on every step of the buyer’s journey, but the subject matter presented throughout the day was quite varied, also discussing matters such as the technology behind marketing automation integration, how to craft and execute a successful direct response campaign on mobile, and converting leads into prospects and prospects into sales.
Overdrive was proud to be involved in this day not only as co-organizer of the event, but also as both a sponsor and exhibitor. In addition, Overdrive CEO, Harry Gold, was honored to be one of the summit’s featured speakers, leading what was arguably the most popular session of the day. Gold preached The New Gospel of SEO: Search + Social + Branding to a room so packed that there was SRO. The presentation stood out among the rest, as it tied together many of the larger themes touched on throughout the day, not only discussing emerging digital trends, technologies, and strategies, but also showing real-life examples. Gold’s presentation taught the audience how to integrate their marketing efforts to take advantage of “the interplay between search marketing, social media marketing… [and] SEO Brand Management [to better craft] consumer experiences for brand and product queries.”
Speakers’ presentation decks have been posted on NEDMA’s SlideShare page, and photos from the event can be found on both Overdrive’s Facebook page and NEDMA’s Facebook page.
