Yesterday, Facebook introduced a new product for publishers, called Instant Articles. Facebook said that they wanted to make the user’s experience with news articles faster and richer. Instant Articles makes the reading experience up to ten times faster than standard mobile web articles, and also adds a suite of interactive features, allowing readers to engage on a deeper level.
Facebook Chief Product Officer, Chris Cox made the following remark:
“Fundamentally, this is a tool that enables publishers to provide a better experience for their readers on Facebook…Instant Articles lets them deliver fast, interactive articles while maintaining control of their content and business models.”
Facebook is currently working with nine launch partners for Instant Articles including The New York Times, National Geographic, and BuzzFeed.
