Twitter Redefines Advertising Opportunities

In addition to the endless ways to connect with users on Twitter, businesses can now rely on even more insight for their efforts. Recently, Twitter has developed new advertising opportunities for business to take part in. Offering a clear explanation of ways to monetize efforts through the micro-sharing site, now businesses can create monthly budgets for Promoted Tweets, Promoted Trends, and Promoted Accounts.

With each of these new promoted ideas, businesses can now have another way to target their users that would benefit most from their products and services. By selecting a promoted campaign through Twitter, businesses can have their brand at the forefront of search results, and trending topics; leading to increased user discovery, and the discovery of new business, new content and new users.

As an additional perk to advertising with Twitter, they launched an analytics feature that provides further insight on both paid and unpaid activity.  These insights include any mentions, @replies, retweets, clicks and follows (for Promoted Accounts) displayed in a graph of the new accounts dashboard and timeline activity.

At the beginning of the advertising section on Twitter, there is a form asking for information from each interested business. Details such as type of industry, budget and projected launch date are required fields, as well as whether this is a for-profit or non-profit organization.

With Twitter now announcing their new advertising opportunities as an effective campaign, they promise tremendous growth through the upcoming 2011 year. Seeing the continued growth of Twitter as part of a social media engagement strategy, one can only imagine how viral these advertising options could be for business.
